NEWS and Reports
We have received many inquiries as to when we might be able to supply cannabis to be processed as medicine. A bill had been filed in the Philippine Congress. It is still being considered and actively discussed, though there is yet no decision made as of this time.
Often in the news, it is said that it is risky to travel to the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. As like in any other country these days, it is advisable to be cautious and watchful no matter where you are. Martial law is currently in effect in Mindanao - and it is even safer now than it was before. The military have made sure their presence is felt even in the remotest areas and there are checkpoints in the cities and highways to ensure that security measures are implemented.
Extromed travels extensively to the hinterlands of Mindanao , where our farms are. We are always aware that we are sometimes far from civilization due to the vast areas of properties we are developing. We find ourselves welcomed in communities we come to though and there is always a helping hand or a smile when we interact with them. Majority of our farmers are from these areas.
Working together helps build trust and unity.
The Philippines’ farmers are facing financial challenges due to loss of revenues on their farms. Issues on rice and coconut production and their sales top the list, as well as accusations of lack of support from the government have emerged. However, the Department of Agriculture and the Local Government Units (LGUs) have made some resolutions to help ease these concerns.
Extromed is working vigorously to support the farmers by encouraging them to produce other crops to sustain their livelihood. Through the Department of Agriculture’s training arm, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), farmers are taught all the necessary processes to get started.
We are also extending our assistance further by providing long-term agreements with them, enhanced by our suggested and improved Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
